Sabah providing RM600 airfare subsidy for varsity students to return home

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government announced a RM600 air ticket subsidy for all local students studying at higher learning institutes in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak and Labuan.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said an allocation of RM10mil had been set aside for the airfare subsidy.

He made the announcement during his visit to Penang where he joined students from Sabah during a buka puasa ceremony on Monday (March 25).

He said the one-off special assistance of RM600 were funds from the Chief Minister’s special allocation.

“The subsidy will be given directly to students concerned. Detailed information and the payment mechanism will be worked out later.

“This special assistance can be used at any time to return to Sabah,” he added.
