Miss Saigon musical to hold auditions for role of young Tam in Singapore run


Want your child to be the next theatre star? Open call auditions for the role of Tam in the Singapore season of award-winning musical Miss Saigon are set for Apr 27 and 28.

This was announced by Base Entertainment Asia and GWB Entertainment in a press release on Thursday (Apr 11).

Tam, who is the child of the main protagonists Vietnamese girl Kim and American Marine sergeant Chris, has a minor role in the musical. 

“The character is male identifying, of Vietnamese Heritage with a playing age of three years old,” said the release. 

The role can be portrayed by children between the ages of four to eight years old with a maximum height of 115cm. And while Tam is male identifying, the character can be portrayed by any gender but those with with long hair may be required to cut it if cast.

Besides that, the child must be confident and able to remain still and silent as Tam has no lines in the musical. 

Candidates must be physically present for the auditions, and be available for all rehearsals and performances as listed on the registration site.

Venue of the auditions have yet to be announced.

The Cameron Mackintosh production Miss Saigon will have a limited season at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands from Aug 15.
