SINGAPORE – Several roads near the Parliament House, NUS University Cultural Centre and Singapore Sports Hub will be closed at certain hours from Sept 11 to 13 due to Pope Francis’ visit.
In a Facebook post on Sept 9, the police said only authorised vehicles, police and emergency vehicles will be allowed access during the period when the roads will be inaccessible to the public.
Auxiliary police officers and security officers will be deployed at the affected junctions to assist and direct motorists.
Traffic delays are expected along High Street, Hill Street and North Bridge Road in the vicinity of the Parliament House.
Motorists along Stadium Boulevard, Stadium Crescent, Stadium Drive, Stadium Place, Stadium Road and Stadium Walk in the vicinity of the Singapore Sports Hub are also expected to face delays, along with those travelling on Clementi Road, Kent Ridge Crescent, and Lower Kent Ridge Road in the vicinity of the NUS University Cultural Centre.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes early, and members of the public travelling in the area are strongly encouraged to use public transport.
Those travelling via Supreme Court Lane, St Andrew’s Road, Old Parliament Lane, Connaught Drive and Cole Street, or toward premises such as the Supreme Court, National Gallery Singapore, The Adelphi, The Arts House, Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall, Asian Civilisations Museum and Singapore Cricket Club, are advised to enter before or after the period of closure.
The police said parking restrictions in the affected roads will be strictly enforced, and vehicles found parking illegally or causing obstruction will be towed.

- The Parliament House (closed from 7.30am to 12pm on Sept 12)
– The two left lanes on High Street (between lamp post four and junction with North Bridge Road)
– Parliament Place
- Singapore Sports Hub (closed from 8am to 9pm on Sept 12)
– The left lane of the carriageway of Stadium Drive in the direction of Stadium Road (between lamp posts 46F and 48F)
-The left lane of the carriageway of Stadium Drive in the direction of Stadium Road (between lamp posts 53F and 56F)
- NUS University Cultural Centre (from 11.59pm on Sept 11 to 8pm on Sept 12)
– The extreme right lane of Clementi Road in the direction of Commonwealth Avenue West (between lamp posts 46 and 50)
– The left lane of Kent Ridge Crescent in the direction of College Link (between lamp posts 50 and 52F)
– The extreme left lane of Clementi Road in the direction of West Coast Highway (between lamp posts 53 and 51/1
– Kent Ridge Crescent (between junction with Clementi Road and junction with College Link)
– Engineering Drive 1 (between junction with Kent Ridge Crescent and junction with Engineering Drive 3)
– Conservatory Drive
– Estate Office Drive
- NUS University Cultural Centre (closed from 12pm to 8pm on Sept 12)
– Engineering Drive 1 towards Kent Ridge Crescent (between carpark 2A entrance and exit)
- NUS University Cultural Centre (closed from 11.59pm on Sept 13 to 5am on Sept 14)
