SINGAPORE – A man is accused of trying to assault a woman with a truncheon and around seven hours later, using a baseball bat to hit a policeman.
On Feb 17, Lee Kok Leong, 41, was charged with one count each of voluntarily causing hurt to the police inspector and attempting to assault the woman.
Lee was at Block 81 Whampoa Drive shortly before 8pm on Feb 15 when he allegedly tried to assault the woman.
The police received a call about the incident, but he fled before officers arrived at the scene.
Officers from Tanglin Police Division managed to trace Lee and met him in Telok Blangah Crescent at around 3am on Feb 16.
Lee allegedly refused to cooperate with the officers and turned aggressive. During the arrest, he allegedly assaulted one of them with a baseball bat and threw a mug at him.
“As a result of his action, the 49-year-old officer sustained injuries to his head and wrist. The officer was subsequently discharged with two days of medical leave,” the police said in a statement.
Lee’s case will be mentioned again in court in March.
