Fire breaks out at Tuas industrial building

SINGAPORE – An industrial building in Tuas caught fire on the evening of March 8.

The fire involved paint products in an area measuring about 30m by 15m on the first floor of the two-storey building at 10 Tuas Avenue 18A, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) in a Facebook post.

Firefighters extinguished the flames using four water jets in about an hour from 7.30pm.

Six people evacuated from the premises before SCDF arrived. Paramedics assessed two people for smoke inhalation, and they declined to be taken to hospital.

SCDF said the area affected by the fire is being damped down using an unmanned firefighting machine and water jets. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A check by The Straits Times shows that Ava-Chem Industrial, a firm specialising in cleaning and waste management, is located at 10 Tuas Avenue 18A. ST has contacted the company for more information.
