SINGAPORE – A 74-year-old minibus driver has been arrested after a fatal crash at Holland Village early on March 26.
Police said they were alerted to the accident involving the minibus and a 76-year-old male pedestrian at about 6.50am. It occurred in Holland Avenue towards Commonwealth Avenue.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
The man behind the wheel of the minibus was arrested for driving without due care and attention causing death, said police.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Traffic deaths and injuries hit a five-year high in 2024, with speeding contributing to one in three fatal crashes, according to figures released by traffic police in February.
