SINGAPORE – A vendor deployed to a secondary school allegedly committed voyeurism at its staff room and is accused of targeting multiple women, including at least two teachers.
Chan Ding Jie, 30, now faces six counts of voyeurism and one count of intentionally coming into possession of a woman’s intimate images without her consent.
In a statement to The Straits Times on April 9, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said that it is aware of a court case involving a vendor who was previously deployed to a school.
An MOE spokesperson added that Chan is no longer engaged by any school since April 2024.
Details about the school cannot be disclosed to protect the identity of the teachers he had allegedly targeted.
Chan is accused of starting his crime spree on Dec 10, 2021. He was at the staff room that day when he allegedly downloaded a woman’s intimate images from her computer without her consent.
On Feb 26, 2024, Chan purportedly used his mobile phone to record an upskirt video of a teacher in the staff room.
On April 1 that year, he allegedly used the device to record a video of a second teacher’s chest area in the same room. Chan is accused of recording an upskirt video of another woman when he was there again the next day.
On April 4, 2024, Chan was at a lift lobby of a Housing Board block of flats in Woodlands on April 4, 2024 when he allegedly used a mobile phone to observe a woman’s buttock and underwear.
While riding in a public bus the next day, he allegedly used the device to record a video of an unknown woman’s groin.
Chan is also accused of committing a similar offence against another unknown woman along a road on April 25, 2024.
His case will be mentioned again in court on April 11.
