SCDF officer charged after he allegedly committed voyeurism on 5 occasions

SINGAPORE – A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer was in a Housing Board flat on March 26, 2024, when he allegedly recorded a woman without her consent while she was changing her clothes.

The man is accused of targeting the same woman four more times in the unit until April 7 that year.

The 44-year-old man, who cannot be named due to a gag order to protect the victim’s identity, was handed five voyeurism charges on April 8.

Responding to queries, SCDF told The Straits Times on April 10 that the man is an officer working in a non-front-line vocation, and has been suspended on half-pay.

An SCDF spokesperson said: “(We take) a serious view of this matter. We expect all our officers to uphold exemplary standards of professionalism, conduct and discipline at all times.

“Officers who are found guilty by the courts of criminal offences will face public service disciplinary action, which may include dismissal from service.”

The man’s case will be mentioned again in court on May 6.

For each count of voyeurism, an offender can be jailed for up to two years, fined or caned, or receive any combination of such punishments.
