Floods kill 1 in Malaysia, over 29,000 displaced


KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) — One woman died after her car was swept away by floodwaters in Kelantan state of Malaysia, authorities said on Wednesday.

The 70-year-old woman was found about 120 meters from the place of the accident, Tanah Merah district police chief Muhd Haki Hasbullah said in a statement.

The number of people displaced nationwide rose to 29,480, with 214 flood relief centers providing shelter for the evacuees, according to the country’s social welfare department. Kelantan state was the most severely affected, it added.

The meteorological department has issued warnings of continuous adverse weather.
