Couple from China arrested in Malaysia after raid on luxury condo drug lab

Malaysian police broke up a drug processing syndicate following a raid at a luxury condominium unit in Kuala Lumpur.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said a couple from China, aged 46 and 39, were arrested in the raid last Thursday after police found a packet containing ketamine weighing 34.90 grams (1.23 oz).

“Further checks in a second room led to the discovery of a drug processing laboratory and material suspected to be used for processing, packaging and storing various types of drugs,” he told reporters at the district police headquarters on Wednesday, Bernama reported.

Ahmad Sukarno said seized drugs included ketamine (1,878.90 grams), methamphetamine (380 grams), cocaine (62 grams) and MDMA powder (7,151 grams).

“The team also found 10 plastic bottles containing a liquid suspected to be MDMA weighing 37,445 grams in a wardrobe, bringing the total value of the seizure to 164,496 ringgit (US$41,867),” he said.

He said investigations showed that the syndicate is believed to have been active over the past three months and rented the luxury residential unit for drug processing purposes.
