KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has strongly condemned the attacks by the Israeli regime and the United States against Iran.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, speaking during a briefing in the Dewan Rakyat today, said the government views the continued military action against the sovereign nation of Iran as contrary to principles agreed upon by the international community.
“As a free and independent nation, Malaysia calls for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.
“If there are grounds for dispute, these must return to the negotiating table in a constructive manner,” Anwar said.
The strikes on Saturday followed a 12-day air war in June between Israel and Iran, amid repeated warnings by the US and Israel against the Islamic republic.
Iran state television on Sunday confirmed the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
