Lingling Kwong, Whose Favourite S’porean Dish Is Laksa, Has An Unusual Diet In Order To Stay Slim

It was a balmy Thursday afternoon when 8days.sg arrived at the Sinnkawa store at Chinatown, only to be met with a massive crowd clogging up the street.

Then again, we can’t say we’re surprised — after all, everyone was there for the same reason: to catch a glimpse of Thai superstar Lingling Kwong.

The 30-year-old actress was in town yesterday (Mar 12) to celebrate the homegrown brand’s first anniversary as well as the launch of its new Sun-Tanned Merlion collection.

And even though we were seated on the second level and well away from the main entrance, we didn’t need anyone to tell us when Lingling arrived. The deafening roars from the fans below said it all.

Suddenly, a gorgeous, fairy-like star dressed in the sweetest shade of pink appeared on the second level with her larger-than-usual entourage. Before we knew it, she was sitting right there, warmly making eye contact with the media.

Lingling shared with us that this is her third time in Singapore — she’s been here twice previously for fan meets — though she barely had any chance to explore our little red dot.

It’s why she’s really hoping to one day come here for a holiday with her family when her schedule allows.

We understand, an extremely popular A-lister like her barely gets any time to rest and relax. So what does Lingling usually do to unwind?

“I sleep and I eat a lot,” she told us in Thai-accented English. “Oh you can’t imagine that I eat a lot right?”

Yes, we can’t imagine. Even the host exclaimed: “But you look so slim!”

“Ya, because I eat!” Lingling replied.

Sorry, what? She gets slimmer by eating… more?

“Yes, the more you eat, you’ll get a good body!” she explained, adding that she chooses to eat “real food” instead of junk food.

Lingling apparently also eats a lot of eggs.

“I think about nine or eight eggs a day,” said the actress, adding that eggs are a great source of protein for her especially since she, according to fans, works out a lot too.

“I love eggs,” she emphasised.

But it’s not to say that she forgets about her carbs though. In fact, Lingling said she loves noodles too.

“I love laksa, it’s my favourite local food,” she beams.
