A Singapore victim reportedly lost at least S$4.9 million after joining what appeared to be a Zoom conference call involving Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and other government officials — but police say the meeting was actually created using deepfake AI technology. According to the Singapore Police Force, scammers allegedly used WhatsApp messages, fake government emails, NDAs and AI-generated Zoom footage to convince the victim to transfer funds linked to an “urgent” geopolitical matter involving the Strait of Hormuz. SPF later released footage of the fabricated Zoom call, where telltale signs included strange lip-syncing, distorted backgrounds and unnatural facial movement. In this 8days video, we also test Swapface — a real-time AI deepfake software — to see just how easy modern face-swapping technology has become. #8dayssg #8dayssgtrending #singapore #lawrencewong #deepfake
