Hong Kong action icon Jackie Chan to swap movie set for Singapore classroom in school appearance on July 7

SINGAPORE, June 30 — Hong Kong action legend Jackie Chan is heading back to school — not as a student, but as a special guest.

The 72-year-old martial arts superstar will visit Pei Chun Public School on July 7, where he is expected to spend time with a group of students in a rare school appearance during his trip to Singapore, according to media organisation Mothership.

The surprise announcement was made today at the Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship 2026 Awards Presentation Ceremony, held at the Institute of Technical Education Headquarters and College Central’s Tay Eng Soon Convention Centre.

The ceremony recognised more than 400 student-athletes with scholarships, with Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth David Neo attending as the guest of honour.

But it was news of Chan’s upcoming visit that added an unexpected dose of star power to the event.

Best known for blockbuster hits including the Rush Hour, Police Story and Drunken Master franchises, Chan has spent decades building a global reputation as one of cinema’s biggest action stars, famed for performing his own gravity-defying stunts and blending martial arts with slapstick comedy.

His appearance at Pei Chun Public School is expected to give students the chance to meet one of Asia’s most recognisable entertainment icons up close.

While organisers have yet to reveal details of the programme, Chan is expected to interact with a group of pupils during the visit.

The Hong Kong-born actor has long supported youth, education and charitable causes alongside his film career, making school and community engagements a familiar part of his public appearances around the world.

For the students of Pei Chun Public School, however, next Tuesday is shaping up to be anything but an ordinary day in class.
