KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has congratulated men’s doubles pairs Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King and Soh Wooi Yik-Man Wei Chong for emerging as champions and runners-up, respectively, in the 2026 Korea Masters Badminton Championships yesterday.
Ahmad Zahid hopes their success will be just the right tonic to spur them to continue to bring glory to Malaysia on the international stage.
“Our two new pairs put up a thrilling and closely-fought match.
“Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved for your efforts and commitment,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Kai Wun-Roy King emerged champions in their Korea Masters debut at the Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium in Asan with a 21-13, 21-18 win over compatriots Wooi Yik-Wei Chong in 31 minutes.
This is the second time Malaysia has won the Korea Masters title, with Wooi Yik partnering Aaron Chia to lift the men’s doubles crown in 2024. — Bernama
