Youth Olympic Games: How Singapore has fared so far and what’s ahead in coming days

SINGAPORE: Archer Tabitha Yeo advanced in the women’s individual elimination round at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, after defeating New Zealand’s Ella Yang 6-0 on Saturday (Nov 7).

The 17-year-old SEA Games gold medalist will next face Mexico’s Maya Casas Lara on Monday.

Her advancement comes as Team Singapore has secured one gold and one silver medal at the Games, with five days of competition remaining.

In a post-match interview, Yeo said that she will continue doing her best for the upcoming matches.

“You can never expect eliminations to be easy. So I just went in and did my best. I don’t really care what my opponent’s rank is, I just go in and know that I have to do my best,” she said.

More than 2,600 athletes aged 14 to 17 are competing in 25 sports at the Youth Olympic Games, which run from Oct 31 to Nov 13. Dakar 2026 marks the first Olympic sporting event held in Africa.

Singapore is represented by 14 athletes across nine sports: archery, athletics, badminton, 3×3 basketball, fencing, artistic gymnastics, sailing, table tennis and wushu.
