AMMA Unity Fun Run 2026 brings 550 Malaysians together in celebration of unity and community spirit

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 4 — The inaugural ‘AMMA Unity Fun Run 2026 – Run As One’ successfully brought together 550 participants from diverse backgrounds in a celebration of unity, healthy living and community spirit.

Organised by the All Malaysia Malayalee Association (AMMA), the event marked the first official community programme under the leadership of newly appointed president Datin Sri Shaila V, and was held in collaboration with the Ministry of National Unity.

Held at Batu Metropolitan Park, Jalan Ipoh, the run reflected the spirit of inclusivity and togetherness as Malaysians of various ages, races and cultures came together ahead of the National Day celebrations.

“The Unity Fun Run represents our commitment to strengthening social bonds, encouraging healthy living and creating meaningful platforms that celebrate Malaysia’s multicultural heritage,” said Shaila V.

She said the event also marked the beginning of a series of initiatives by the newly elected AMMA Central Working Committee 2026-2028 aimed at promoting inclusivity, mutual respect and national harmony through community-driven programmes.

She said the idea behind the Unity Fun Run was to use the universal appeal of health, food, music and sports to bring Malaysians together in a relaxed and meaningful way.

“A fun run is not just about running. It is about creating a space where people from different backgrounds can come together, connect and celebrate what makes Malaysia unique. When we combine healthy living, sports, food and music, we create an opportunity for Malaysians of all races, cultures and communities to build friendships and strengthen bonds,” she said.

She added that the event brought together participants from various communities, including Malaysians of different ethnic backgrounds as well as representatives from community organisations, reflecting the spirit of unity that the initiative hoped to promote.

Participants from all walks of life, including families, fitness enthusiasts, youth groups, corporate teams and community members, joined the 3km and 5km categories, turning the event into a platform for Malaysians to connect while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
