SINGAPORE – A picture of a concrete block used in the construction of public flats here went viral on social media, with some using it as a window – pun intended – of opportunity to express their creativity.
A photo of the incident was posted to the SGRV Front Man Facebook group just before 11am on March 19, showing a prefabricated concrete structure, with window grilles, on the left-most lane of a road. A trailer truck is seen a distance ahead of the concrete block, with similar-looking structures on its trailer.
The original post drew over 1,000 reactions, more than 500 shares and over 330 comments as at 5.10pm on March 20, and has been reposted on other social media accounts.
There were few concrete details about this incident. The police said in a media reply that they were alerted to the incident at Tuas South Avenue 9 around 7.40am on March 19, and that no injuries were reported.
The trailer driver, a 31-year-old man, is assisting in police investigations.
While some netizens commented on the safety measures when transporting such structures, some saw the picture as an open door to provide some colourful commentary about the grey concrete unit.
“Someone’s room fell off the trailer,” said one, drawing more than 50 reactions to the comment.
One saw it as an opportunity to break the housing ceiling, saying: “Literally, landed property.”
“Who drop my toilet?” one wondered, with another speculating: “New Tuas estate?”
“Bro, your living room’s on lane 3,” offered a helpful commenter.
There are also several variations of this classic phrase: “Sir, you can’t build a house there.”
