Car driver taken to hospital after accident with SBS bus in Bukit Timah

SINGAPORE – A car driver was taken to hospital after a collision between her vehicle and an SBS Transit bus in Bukit Timah on March 23.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident at the junction of Bukit Timah Road and Duke’s Road at about 12.55pm.

The 34-year-old female car driver was taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, they added.

The bus driver, a 46-year-old man, is assisting with investigations, said the police.

In response to a media query, SBS Transit spokeswoman Grace Wu said a service 157 bus was travelling on the extreme left lane of Bukit Timah Road when a car that was on its right “suddenly cut into its lane, resulting in a collision”.

“Thankfully, no one on the bus, including the bus captain, was hurt,” she added.

In a video of the accident’s aftermath posted on Facebook page Singapore Roads Accident, a blue car is seen to have partially mounted the kerb of a pedestrian walkway at the intersection of Bukit Timah Road and Duke’s Road.

The car’s rear is crumpled, while the bus, which is parked a few metres behind the car, is seen with a part of its front bumper splintered in half.

Under the sheltered walkway, people are seen attending to a person sitting on a chair. An SCDF ambulance is also seen at the site.

Police investigations are ongoing.
