Chantalle Ng’s foster dog has found his forever home!

Two weeks ago, the Mediacorp actress revealed on Instagram that she had taken in a foster dog, Jeong, who was rescued from a dog meat breeding farm in South Korea. The dog had reportedly been close to being slaughtered.

Chantalle shared that the dog, who is about four or five years old, was brought back to Singapore by her friend, who works as a flight attendant and is up for adoption.

He was staying temporarily at the 30-year-old actress’ home, where she also has two Silkie chickens, Happy and Fluffy, a Singapore Special dog named Pretty, and a cat named Butter.

Back then, Chantalle shared that she had opened adoption applications via her DMs, and that she has received three adoption applicants, though she was not working with any animal welfare group or shelter.

“If the right home doesn’t come along… I might just keep him myself,” she wrote.

When 8days.sg reached out to Chantalle to ask about Jeong’s adoption progress today (Apr 30), she shares the good news that she was “bringing him over to his new home later [in the day]”.

She tells us that out of all the adoption applicants, she chose to rehome Jeong to a young couple, mainly because of “how intentional they are” with their own dog, Chocolate.

“Their whole routine is really structured, with early walks, regular socialising, and time set aside for training,” she explains.

“It felt like they genuinely put in the effort to give their dog a good life and not just the basics.”

Chantalle also made the effort to meet the couple and their dog in person, and says that “there was just something very telling about” that interaction.

“Her eyes had that sparkle you only see in dogs that are really loved, and that gave me a lot of confidence in the kind of home they would provide,” she tells us.

Of course, Chantalle and her mum, veteran Mediacorp actress Lin Meijiao, are inevitably sad to part with Jeong, who had stayed with them for an entire month.

Back in 2023, Chantalle quipped online that her mum had told her she should move out if she brought home another pet. However, she recently revealed that her mum is now “very happy with all the animals”, and was surprisingly onboard about her fostering this time.

“We grew to love Jeong, and he’s getting along very well with our animals. It is now my routine to tuck both Pretty and Jeong under their blankets at night,” says Chantalle.

“But I sincerely feel that they can give Jeong an even better life, so I think sometimes love is letting go.”

Ultimately Chantalle admits she has to stay practical given her circumstances too.

“Because at our place it is more like a farm situation, but with his new home it feels like they treat their dogs like children,” she elaborates.

Chantalle also previously divulged that, given his timid nature, Jeong would follow her everywhere and stay close to her whenever she’s at home.

She later found out through her mum that Jeong would hide in a corner and wait for her return, which left her feeling “heartbroken and wanting to find him a loving home”.

With Chantalle set to be away for work for a period of time, she decided it would be better for the dog to be with a family who can provide it with more constant companionship and reassurance.

“Plus my dog is very alpha, she cares about her boundaries. But Chocolate is very, very friendly so it feels like Jeong won’t have to tiptoe around her,” says the actress.

“I feel it’ll be a better home for Jeong,” she adds.
