While some Singaporeans can’t wait to travel out of the country during the Chinese New Year break, there’s Chinese actress Esther Yu, who chose to fly all the way from Shanghai to spend the festive season here.
Earlier this week, the 28-year-old star took to her Instagram to share a video of her journey to Marina Bay Sands as well as photos of her taken in the balcony of her hotel room.
Esther also posted pictures and videos of her being all touristy at the Universal Studios Singapore.
According to those close to her, the star, who used to study at Singapore’s Lasalle College of the Arts, will be spending Chinese New Year here with her family.
However, as it is a personal vacation, Esther, who is not accompanied by any staff, will not accept any interview requests.
According to an interview she did with zaobao.sg back in 2019, Esther shared that her parents sent her to Lasalle to study fashion management after graduating high school in China.
There, she became schoolmates with ex-Mediacorp actor Edwin Goh.
After graduating, Esther then returned to China to pursue her acting career.
She later joined Chinese talent search Youth With You 2 in 2020, where she emerged first runner-up and became a member of Chinese girl group The9.
