SINGAPORE – Online grocer Redmart is recalling a dark chocolate product that contains milk, an allergen, under a direction from the food safety authority.
Milk detected in the Supremely Gourmet Premium Dark Chocolate (96g) from New Zealand was not declared on the food packaging label, said the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) on Feb 26.
The recall, ordered by SFA, is underway by product importer Redmart.
In Singapore, ingredients known to cause hypersensitivity must be declared on food products’ packaging to protect consumers with allergies.
Though milk is generally safe to consume, it can pose issues for those who are lactose intolerant or allergic to it, said SFA.
Such consumers who have bought the dark chocolate should not eat it, advised the agency. If they have, they should seek medical advice if they are concerned about their health, it added.
Customers may contact their retailer for enquiries.
