A doctor from China has gained attention for his 25kg weight loss in just 42 days.
After his weight loss feat, Wu Tian Gen, a 31-year-old surgeon at Hubei’s Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, then bagged several awards at a bodybuilding competition, including newcomer champ and the most popular participant.
Tian Gen tipped the scales at 97.5kg in 2024, the heaviest he’s ever been, according to reports. The year before, he had discovered that he had a mild fatty liver.
As a doctor who helps obese patients lose weight through surgery, Tian Gen knew he had to get into better shape.
By January this year, the 1.82m tall Tian Gen, weighed 73.5kg, after 42 days of a strict diet and workout regimen.
Reports state that while training for the competition, Tian Gen would work out for two hours a day, and sleep for six hours a day. He’d wake up at 5.30am and do a cardio workout for an hour before work; after work, he would do another hour of anaerobic exercise. He would also soak his feet in hot water and take a hot shower to promote blood circulation before bed.
During this period, Tian Gen also had to balance his work duties, which includes attending to three surgeries a week, two days of ward visits, and daily research and consultations.
