KUALA LUMPUR: The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) is reviewing the US Supreme Court’s ruling to strike down President Donald Trump’s tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said MITI is also coordinating with both Washington and Asean partners to determine the next course of action.
“Regarding the tariffs, Datuk Seri Jo (Johari Ghani) has already provided an explanation, and we will receive a detailed briefing before we respond.
“We will wait for Friday’s Cabinet meeting.
“MITI is currently reviewing the matter and coordinating with Washington, as well as Asean partners, to see what actions to take,” he told reporters after a breaking-of-fast ceremony with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia and the launch of the Rakan Masjid x Rakan Muda Ramadan programme here today.
Present were Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, Youth and Sports Minister (KBS) Hannah Yeoh, and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul.
