Ever thought a long nature hike would be made better by having some company?

A member of Facebook Group ‘Singapore Hikers’ posted a picture that appeared to show a new Grab Transport feature called ‘Walking Buddy’.

The interface looked similar to the official Grab app and claimed it would cost S$15 to walk from the west of Singapore to the east.

A couple of netizens questioned if Grab was being serious with one commenting, “Who pays someone to walk with me?”

Another asked, “Why are they holding hands?”

However, it seems the original post has since been taken down.

8days.sg reached out to Grab to confirm if the ‘Walking Buddy’ service was legit.

A spokesperson responded, saying, “Looking at the interface and numerous spelling errors on the screenshot – we believe this should be a joke”.

Upon further questioning, the spokesperson confirmed that Grab has no plans to introduce such a service, doubling down on it as a joke.

This isn’t the first time a private-hire company has been involved in a similar situation.

Back in 2020, a similar image went viral featuring a supposed ‘Walking Buddy’ option on the Uber app.

The screenshot claimed Uber posted to Twitter “Gotta get those steps in” and was later found to be fake.

Well, if there’s Grabshare and Grabhitch, why not, right?
