Just over two months since Huang Yiliang started his new F&B business, the former local actor was spotted to be involved in a dispute with his neighbouring hawker stall owner.
A Redditor shared a video on May 6 showing the 64-year-old seemingly in a heated argument with the owner of a neighbouring stall.
Yiliang started running his stall, Old Fisherman, at Circuit Road Hawker Centre back in March. The stall specialises in crab dishes like crab bee hoon, chilli crab as well as other seafood such as steamed fish. He also has a seafood wet market stall at the nearby MacPherson Market and Food Centre, which he opened in 2023.
“Huang Yiliang quarrels with neighbouring chicken rice seller,” the OP wrote in a SingaporeEats community post.
In the clip, Yiliang, wearing a grey T-shirt and black shorts, and a woman in a red T-shirt and black apron were seen yelling at each other. At one point, Yiliang was even heard yelling Hokkien expletives at the woman.
The video, however, was shortly removed by the moderator, who explained that the post was “removed as it is not directly related to food in Singapore”.
Despite that, Redditors have already flocked to the comments to give their two cents on the incident.
“I mean… his record of being abusive isn’t just for show,” remarked one netizen. The former actor had previously served a 10-month jail term in 2022 for assaulting his worker.
“Why are you guys still surprised? He’ll never change,” another said.
A Redditor, who claimed to be a resident around that area, also spoke up for the lady in red.
“As a MacPherson kid, I can vouch for the aunty in red, she’s a nice person. No argument all. [She] will always chit chat with me and ask me if [people at church] will support her (as in I’m from a nearby church too. And often go and support her),” they wrote.
“For her to get this angry is…. Bro has anger management issue,” added the netizen. “Went to [takeaway] my dinner from her, can definitely feel the mood shift.”
