Japanese Singer Gackt Says M’sian Airport Staff Could Not Tell If He Was Male Or Female

While most people pass through airport security without much fuss, Japanese singer Gackt was recently stopped, not for prohibited items, but by a question that left him stunned.

The 50-year-old shared the incident to X saying he noticed that a male airport staff at a Malaysian airport hesitated to touch him during a security inspection,

Sensing something was off, Gackt asked if there was an issue only to be met with an unexpected question: “Are you a man?”

Umm… Wouldn’t a simple passport check solve this?

Though Gackt didn’t mention how he responded, he expressed his disbelief in a tweet.

“Come on, you’re stopping a man in his 50s and asking that? I’m a man among men”.

Gackt even shared a selfie he took at the airport. He was dressed in a fashionable-looking black jacket with gold and red patterns. He also had on a pair of sunglasses.

Fans were amused by the story with many commenting on Gackt’s androgynous looks.

One even wrote, “They can’t believe that someone your age can still look so charming”.

Gackt is no stranger to Malaysia and frequently travels there for work. He owns a mansion on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur.

He also founded Malaysian real estate company Gackt & Ikeda Asia Bridge Partnerz in 2016.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Gackt’s appearance has caused confusion.

In a separate tweet, he recalled being stopped by a Las Vegas casino guard who mistook him for a minor.

With his youthful looks, we wonder if Gackt has trouble buying alcohol in some countries too?
