Minion Performer Falls Over At Universal Studios Beijing; Unable To Get Up Again Until Colleagues Step In To Help

Being a theme park performer isn’t just laughs and photo-ops. Sometimes it means handling unexpected situations, like, if you face-planted in front of a crowd.

That was the case for one unfortunate Minion at Universal Studios Beijing, who became the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons during the Minions Cream Soda Show.

In the video posted to Xiaohongshu, a performer dressed in a Minion outfit was seen taking quite a tumble mid-performance and was unable to get up.

Within seconds, other park employees were seen rushing over with a black sheet to shield prying eyes while attending to their fallen colleague.

Some online asked why staff members used the black sheet. A Universal Studios Singapore staffer told this writer that it is standard practice in the industry.

According to him, it is about preserving the magic while maintaining the illusion for children.

Well, Minion down, magic intact.

Later on, the park made an announcement telling park goers that the show had been cancelled, and apologised for the inconvenience, encouraging guests to enjoy their time at Minion Land.

Despite the abrupt end to the show, the supportive (or is it kaypoh?) audience stayed on and cheered the performer on, and some were overheard asking if the Minion actor was fine.

It is not confirmed what happened to the performer under the costume. Was it due to overheating or was the performer feeling unwell? Your guess is as good as ours.

After all, those Minion suits don’t look like they come with built-in ventilation.
