Batu Pahat: A prolific drug dealer, who operated as a “lone ranger” to distribute drugs, has been arrested in the southern state of Johor.
Police discovered over a kilogram of ecstasy and 1,850 Eramin 5 pills at a house in Taman Puteri Jaya last Saturday.
The 57-year-old suspect, who has 12 prior drug-related offences and conducts his illicit activities solo, was detained during a raid by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division at Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 11.30pm.
Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, said the suspect bought drugs in large quantities, which were then sold in small packets on the market.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect has been actively distributing drugs since January, he said.
He added that the seized drugs could also supply 5,000 addicts, and at the same time, the suspect’s car was also impounded.
Authorities seized drugs valued at RM282,530 in total. The suspect is currently under remand until Friday, with further investigations ongoing. He tested positive for methamphetamine.
“During the raid, police seized ecstasy weighing 1,332.50 grams with a value of RM222,530, while 1,850 pills of Eramin 5 weighing 600 grams, valued at RM60,000, were also confiscated,” he said in a statement.
Malaysia’s war on drugs is a rigorous national effort aimed at combating drug trafficking and abuse, with strict laws, harsh penalties, and ongoing enforcement actions to reduce drug-related crimes.
