KUALA LUMPUR: Motorists travelling from the northern region to the Klang Valley have been advised to depart between 6am and 8am, or after 6pm, to avoid peak congestion, Plus Malaysia Bhd said in a statement today.
The highway operator said return traffic to the Klang Valley was expected to peak on the final two days of the Chinese New Year festive season and school holidays — tomorrow (Feb 21) and Sunday (Feb 22).
For those travelling from the southern region to the Klang Valley, Plus recommended departure between 7am and 9am, or after 6pm.
Traffic from the north was anticipated to build up along the Sungai Dua–Juru, Kuala Kangsar–Ipoh and Tapah–Sungkai stretches, with heavier congestion expected between noon and 2pm this weekend.
From the south, traffic volume was projected to increase between noon and 2pm along Sedenak–Ayer Hitam and Simpang Ampat–Pedas Linggi.
Plus said high traffic volume was likely to persist until late evening, with daily traffic across its highway network expected to reach between two million and 2.2 million vehicles during peak days.
Motorists were advised to plan their journeys in advance and avoid peak travel periods to ensure a smoother and safer return trip, particularly as Ramadan approaches and some may be rushing to break fast.
Plus also reminded road users to ensure their vehicles were roadworthy, adhere to traffic regulations and avoid driving while fatigued.
Motorists could refer to the MyPlus-TTA (Travel Time Advisory) via the Plus mobile application and its official channels for real-time traffic updates and recommended travel times before embarking on their journeys.
