Police break Terengganu jinx, Kedah hold Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR: Police ended an eight-year hoodoo against Terengganu with a hard-fought 1-0 win in their Super League clash at the Selayang Stadium on Saturday.

Imran Samso bagged the winner in the 48th minute, pouncing on a defensive blunder to give the Cops a rare victory over the East Coast side – their first since 2017.

Police almost doubled their lead on the hour mark, but Bruno Suzuki’s strike was chalked off for offside.

With just one game left in the Super League season, Police sit eighth on 27 points.

Terengganu remain fifth on 32, with their hopes of a top-four finish taking a blow.

At the Darulaman Stadium, crisis-hit Kedah held Sabah to a gutsy 1-1 draw despite continued salary woes.

The Red Eagles took a surprise lead in the 16th minute through an Amirul Hisyam penalty.

However, Sabah’s Darren Lok levelled the score with a close-range finish in the 61st minute to salvage a point for the visitors.

The Rhinos remain third in the table on 40 points, while Kedah are 11th with 21.

In Manjung, Sri Pahang gained a timely confidence boost ahead of their Malaysia Cup final against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), edging Perak 1-0.

Fandi Ahmad’s men left it late, with T. Saravanan netting the decisive goal in the 83rd minute.

The result sees Sri Pahang climb to ninth with 26 points, just one behind seventh-placed Perak.
