SINGAPORE – Members of the public are advised to be cautious when claiming government payouts such as CDC vouchers, as there has been a resurgence of scams involving websites or infographics that direct victims to phishing links.
These fake websites and infographics give information on payouts such as CDC vouchers, the Assurance Package cash, and GST Voucher (GSTV) cash.
Victims may come across Instagram posts featuring infographics that prompt them to claim their CDC vouchers via a fake RedeemSG link, said the police on Feb 14.
They may also receive messages on Telegram that include a Budget 2025 infographic that appears to be from the Ministry of Finance (MOF), accompanied by a link to purportedly apply for and claim their payouts.
In both scenarios, the victims would then be prompted to enter information such as bank account details or personal credentials.
“Members of the public are reminded to exercise caution when claiming government payouts,” said the police.
CDC vouchers can be claimed via Singpass by only one member per household, and the vouchers can be shared with family members via the household’s unique CDC voucher link.
No action is required for cash payouts such as that from the Assurance Package, which will be automatically credited to eligible citizens.
The police added: “You will never receive a request to disclose personal or banking credentials, be asked to transfer money, or install mobile apps from unofficial app stores to claim CDC vouchers or receive any government cash benefits like AP (Assurance Package) cash or GSTV cash.”
