SINGAPORE – A food importer is recalling oatmeal cookies from Malaysia that contain milk – an allergen – following an order from the Singapore Food Authority (SFA).
SFA said it detected milk in the 200g variant of Happy Family Oatmeal Cookies that was not indicated in the food packaging label.
Following that discovery, the agency directed C M M Marketing Management to recall the product, which has an expiry date of Nov 30.
“Allergens in food could result in allergic reaction in individuals who are sensitive to them,” the SFA said, adding that these should be declared in food packaging labels.
It said milk generally does not pose a food safety issue, except to those who are intolerant of or allergic to milk.
The SFA said those who have bought Happy Family Oatmeal cookies (200g) and are intolerant or allergic to milk should avoid eating the cookies, and seek medical help if they have consumed the product.
