Singaporean man killed in motorcycle accident on Second Link Expressway

ISKANDAR PUTERI, Johor: A Singaporean man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a car that was making a U-turn on the Second Link Expressway on Saturday (Jun 8).

Iskandar Puteri police chief M Kumarasan said the victim, who sustained severe head injuries, died at the scene.

The incident involved a 31-year-old man on a Yamaha MT07 motorcycle and a Proton Saga car at around 12.20 am on Saturday.

“The investigation revealed that the car driver’s U-turn was permitted as he is a project supervisor for road repair works … The U-turn was made to reach another repair site northbound,” he said.

“The victim’s body was taken to Sultanah Aminah Hospital.”

Singapore’s Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) also said on its Facebook page on Saturday that there had been a traffic accident along the Second Link Bridge after Tuas Checkpoint in the wee hours of Saturday and departure clearance had been put on hold until the scene was cleared.

Kumarasan added the 40-year-old car driver was unharmed and the case was under investigation.
