Working overseas can be tricky, especially when you’re unfamiliar with the laws and regulations of the country you’re in.
In a recent episode of Show Luo’s variety show Zhong Yi OK La, Taiwan-based Macanese feng shui master Chan Wei-Chung recalled a time he nearly got into serious trouble while working in Singapore.
The 61-year-old said he was introduced to opportunities here by Taiwanese celeb Xiao Zhong during one of the lowest points of his career.
“He took me to Singapore. People there really like fortune-telling. I did nine live streams, and from the very start I made over one million NT dollars (S$41,000),” he shared.
“Over the course of the year, I conducted feng shui consultations for hundreds of households.”
Things were going well until one live stream went awry… all because Wei-Chung didn’t know the local rules.
“Xiao Zhong said we needed to be lively while live streaming in a shopping mall, so I was shouting and jumping around. In the end, the police arrested me, saying I was disrupting public order,” lamented Wei-Chung.
While he didn’t elaborate on how he was eventually released, viewers were curious if Xiao Zhong stepped in to help.
Xiao Zhong’s response?
“I just stayed behind and continued live streaming,” he chuckled. “But everyone loved watching him get taken away. At the moment he was arrested, there were over 10,000 viewers in the live stream.”
