In just under a week, this writer had been informed thrice by a very apologetic PR rep that the timing for our one-to-one interview with popular Thai actor Win Metawin, who also goes by Win, had been changed.

Can we blame him though?

After our very rushed five-minute chat, the 26-year-old star, who boasts 14.5 million followers on Instagram, is rushing to meet his horde of screaming fans who we heard were impatiently waiting outside Shiseido’s ‘The Gift’ pop-up at Ion Orchard.

During our chat, we asked if their constant screaming and adoration ever gets to him and he says it doesn’t.

In fact, he appreciates it and tells us that he wishes he can see them more often.

“I always find it cute the way they scream my name, or write messages on boards and pieces of paper,” he says.

Win first stole hearts across Asia with his debut in the 2gether: The Series (2020) and later in F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers (2021).

Upon meeting the towering Win (he is 1.85m) who shyly greets us, he quickly brightens up when this writer shared how he binged-watched 2gether and its sequels during the pandemic lockdown.

We can also immediately see why Shiseido chose Win as a “Friend of Shiseido”. A first for a Southeast Asian celebrity.

Saying he has a good complexion is an understatement – try alabaster-perfect instead.

Win proceeds to tell us he visited Singapore countless times even before fame.

“I was about eight when I first visited Singapore with my family,” he says and goes on to tell us that it was a short “three- or four-day vacation”.

“I remember it was also my first time seeing the Merlion when I was so young,” he says though he simply laughs when we ask if he took any fun and cheesy shots with the statue.

We are guessing those pictures exist.

Despite being a regular visitor to our little red dot, Win says Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is still one of his must-go spots while here.

His favourite ride? The ‘Revenge Of The Mummy’ rollercoaster. “I keep wanting to go back because I find it so fun,” he says, smiling.

At this point, we think Singapore can almost count as a second home for Win, right? We then asked if he would consider starring in a local drama here?

After all, Win was in the Philippine-Hong Kong romance film, Under Parallel Skies last year.

“I haven’t been asked but if there were an opportunity, I would love to,” says Win who adds that he always wanted to try his hand at an action role.

So… Anyone making the call?
