TikToker Natasha Gupta (@natooooooosh) has a super popular series that sees her using Google Earth to ‘explore’ various countries and cities around the world.
She clicks on a random area, looks around at its street view, and then gives the verdict: Ugly or not ugly. Her video ends when she clicks on an area she deems ‘ugly’.
Natasha finally featured Singapore in her latest post, much to the excitement of her Singaporean followers.
She starts off well, exploring a hotel, which we later found out is the ibis Styles Singapore On Macpherson, then a park located in a HDB estate before commenting: “I like this”.
She then moves on to a view of The Halia Restaurant at Botanic Gardens, and then a hotel on Sentosa, this time it’s the One15 Marina Sentosa Cove Singapore Hotel.
After that, she lands on a “spectacular” view of the sunset overlooking a private housing estate, and needless to say, all these places were given the ‘not ugly’ rating.
The video comes to a stop when she lands on a stairwell facing a block of flats in the north-west region of Singapore.
Many Singaporeans noticed that the last place appeared to be near a foreign workers’ dormitory in Choa Chu Kang.
“Not the dormitories!” commented one netizen, while others expressed their surprise at how she was “able to zoom all the way into a stairwell”.
While many were entertained by her video, there are those who disagree with her. “I’m from Singapore, Singapore is not ugly,” wrote one proud local, while another joked: “Why is she avoiding Woodlands so much?”
Well, we have to say she gave our country a good shot before finally landing on an area that we can all agree is not pretty.
Perhaps this is a sign that our dormitories could use a little beautifying every now and then?
