The Malaysian public has been cautioned against inciting racial sentiments about a cultural event where Chinese flags were publicly displayed in Perak state’s Teluk Intan or risk being investigated.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said his ministry is monitoring the issue and would leave it to the police for further probe.
“I have read some comments related to 3R (race, religion, royalty) on social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook about this issue.
“I want to remind all to refrain from making any comments that are inciting in nature or related to 3R, especially relating to race.
“The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is monitoring this and also working with the police to identify those who make inciting remarks about it,” he said on Saturday.
Earlier, Fahmi was at the Malaysia International Healthcare (MIH) Megatrends 2024 where MCMC announced partnerships with several parties to drive healthcare innovation.
