ISTANBUL: Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continues to strengthen its global presence by signing a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Istanbul Aydin University at the Eurasia Higher Education Summit (EURIE) 2025 in Turkiye.
The LoI was signed by Istanbul Aydin University president, Professor Dr Mustafa Aydin, and UUM’s official representative, Professor Dr Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani.
The ceremony was witnessed by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.
Azizuddin, who is UUM’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), said the collaboration paves the way for comprehensive academic initiatives, research partnerships, and mobility programmes for both students and staff of the two institutions.
“It aligns with UUM’s aspiration to become a leading global management university and supports Malaysia’s internationalisation agenda in higher education,” he said in a statement yesterday.
He described the partnership as a significant milestone in fostering academic networks between Malaysia and Turkiye, particularly in the areas of management, social sciences, and public policy.
“We see this collaboration as not only strengthening academic and research efforts but also deepening cultural understanding between two nations with rich histories and strategic importance,” he added.
Following the signing, both universities are expected to embark on joint programmes, including co-hosted conferences, exchange initiatives, and high-impact research collaborations.
UUM’s participation in EURIE 2025, which brings together over 2,000 delegates from around the world, serves as a vital platform to expand international partnerships in line with the Higher Education Ministry’s vision of positioning Malaysia as a regional and global education hub.
Last year, UUM signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with five Turkish universities, including Karabuk University, Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University, Dicle University, Gebze Technical University and Mardin Artuklu University.
Those signing ceremonies were also witnessed by Zambry and Higher Education director-general Datuk Professor Dr Azlinda Azman.
