Welfare of security forces personnel to be prioritised: PM

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured that the Madani Government will continue to prioritise the welfare and convenience of security forces personnel.

Anwar posted on Facebook that his political secretary, Ahmad Farhan Fauzi, had recently represented him in making a surprise visit to the Beserah Police Station in Kuantan, Pahang.

The prime minister said he had asked Ahmad Farhan to observe the station’s infrastructure and basic facilities to ensure comfort for those on duty.

On July 15, 2023, Anwar announced an additional allocation of RM150 million for the maintenance and upgrading of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Prisons Department facilities nationwide.

Of the total, RM45 million was specifically for upgrading work and the procurement of equipment at 117 General Operations Force (GOF) control posts, RM40 million for Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom)-related infrastructure and facilities and RM50 million for the maintenance of police quarters.

In Budget 2023, the government provided a development allocation of over RM500 million for the maintenance of the armed forces family homes and rehabilitation of residential quarters and institutions under the Home Ministry, including PDRM.
