Wisma ELM structurally safe after incident: Asset manager

KUALA LUMPUR: AmanahRaya-Kenedix Reit Manager Sdn Bhd, manager of AmanahRaya Real Estate Investment Trust, says Wisma ELM in Bukit Damansara remains structurally sound and safe following an independent engineering assessment after an incident on Jan 12.

In a statement, the company said independent engineering consultants appointed by AmanahRaya Reit had completed a structural and systems review of the affected premises.

“Based on the assessment conducted, the building’s main structural framework remains intact and structurally sound.

“The review did not identify any structural compromise to the integrity of the building.

“The findings provide reassurance that the building remains structurally stable, subject to the completion of ongoing system checks and rectification works.

“There is no indication from the independent assessment of any systemic structural risk to the building,” it noted.

AmanahRaya REIT said the assessment further indicates that the impact was localised to specific areas and mechanical systems, and that the overall structural integrity of the building has not been adversely affected.

The company has worked closely with HELP University, the appointed property manager, Knight Frank Malaysia Sdn Bhd and the relevant authorities throughout the review process.

All necessary precautionary measures, safety checks, and verification procedures have been undertaken in accordance with professional engineering standards.

Any identified areas requiring rectification, repair, or enhanced safety controls are being addressed in a structured and controlled manner, prior to any decision on resumption of operations.

AmanahRaya Reit reiterated that safety remains its foremost priority.

The company said it will continue to cooperate fully with the authorities and align with all regulatory guidance before any next steps are implemented.

The management of AmanahRaya Reit said it moved swiftly to appoint independent professionals to ensure a rigorous and objective assessment of the premises.

“The findings provide reassurance regarding the building’s structural integrity, and we will continue to proceed in a transparent and structured manner as the broader investigations conclude,” it added.

AmanahRaya Reit remains committed in supporting HELP University and its community during this period.

The company said further updates will be provided as and when verified information becomes available.
