At Krua Thip Thai Kitchen, a family-run Thai food stall tucked inside the newly renovated 88 Brew Kopi Coffeeshop along Owen Road, 21-year-old Tan Chun Li is the exception. She confidently fries plate after plate of pad Thai and tom yum fried rice alongside her Thai mother, Pornthip Phuchomngoen, 44.
She has become so skilled behind the wok that some regulars specifically ask for her to cook their food.
